GIRARD
Anthony M. Cox, 26, of Mulberry Avenue, Warren, entered no plea to felony burglary charges when he appeared in municipal court Friday.
Police say he broke into a home in the 400 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road on Thursday and was inside the home around 12:30 p.m. when the homeowner arrived. After he was seen, police said, Cox fled to his SUV parked in an office parking lot next to the home. Cox began to drive west on Church Hill-Hubbard before he lost control and crashed into a wooden utility pole that split in half, said police. He then abandoned his vehicle, but was apprehended on Prospect Street, they said.
Police found a flat-screen TV in Cox’s car, along with missing jewelry from the home.
The court set Cox’s preliminary hearing for Wednesday. The charge carries a maximum of eight years in prison.
Cox is in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.
