Youngstown
The Eastgate Regional Council of Governments has announced that its 2012 Specialized Transportation Grant Program (STP) will provide grant approval for STP vehicles to four local agencies in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
The program provides funds to assist organizations in providing transportation services to meet the special needs of those who are disabled or elderly. The capital-grant funds can be used to purchase vehicles, mobility management services and other transportation-related equipment.
The agencies receiving grant approval for vehicles include the Antonine Sisters Adult Day Care, Easter Seals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, Golden String, and the Trumbull County action program. If you have any questions about this process, contact Kathy Zook at kzook@eastgatecog.org, or call 330-779-3800.

Mahoning County commissioners have hired Thomas Fok & Associates Ltd. of Youngstown for $28,056 to provide engineering services to design a traffic signal for McClurg Road and South Avenue.
County Engineer Richard A. Marsico told commissioners this week that Boardman trustees and police have been advocating installation of a traffic light at that heavily traveled intersection, but Marsico said it’s not among the top accident or congestion areas. The new signal likely will be installed next year, he said.
