Sharon Fence building new facility

Staff report

SHARON, PA.

Construction has begun on new corporate headquarters and a manufacturing facility for Sharon Fence Co. within Sharon’s Renaissance Commerce Park.

Sharon Fence will be the first occupant of the new commerce park, a 12-acre site recently upgraded with proceeds from a $708,000 state grant awarded to the city in collaboration with Wesex Corp. of West Middlesex, which is developing the site.

The grant enables the 50-year-old, family-owned company to retain and create a total of 25 jobs immediately. The site also includes space for expansion, which could result in 10 more jobs.

Renaissance Commerce Park also will help companies such as Wheatland Tube and Sunbelt Transformer by providing improved access for large trucks and room for expansion.

Further projections over the next five years have those two companies adding a dozen more jobs combined, and development at the site will result in an estimated 50 construction jobs.

“We are proud to be a part of this special public/ private partnership that will benefit not only the city of Sharon but the entire region,” said Greg Koledin, president of Wesex Corp. “Sharon Fence is a local employer with a multistate presence. This project has helped them to expand locally instead of having to look elsewhere for suitable locations.”

Sharon Fence operates a sales/warehouse and manufacturing facility in Wheatland, Pa., and a sales/warehouse facility in Columbus, Ohio.
