POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty and Girard:
LIBERTY
Sept. 13
Fraud: A Holly Drive man found $186.49 worth of fraudulent charges to his credit card.
Arrest: Police responding to a shoplifting situation at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, took into custody 32-year-old Angela Y. Trice-Harris, 230 Lakewood Ave., Youngstown, on a warrant charging her with theft in another case.
Damage: An unidentified object struck and slightly damaged the front windshield of a van traveling on state Route 304.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 4200 block of Logangate Road, from which a laptop computer and jewelry were taken.
Aggravated menacing: A teacher at Liberty High School, 1 Leopard Way, reported a 17-year-old student threatened her and a fellow student.
Sept. 15
Menacing: Elizabeth A. Sellers, 40, of 402 S. Davis St., Girard, faced an aggravated-menacing charge after a woman at a Belmont Avenue gas station alleged Sellers had held a knife to the accuser’s midsection during an argument.
Felonious assault: A Tijeras, N.M., man at a Belmont Avenue motel told authorities a Youngstown man punched and kicked his head and face when the accuser asked the man to keep noise down. The victim was to receive medical treatment for his injuries, a report showed.
Criminal damaging: Two apartment windows were broken in the 3000 block of Hadley Avenue. Total damage came to $500.
Sept. 16
Drugs: Officers investigating suspicious activity at a Motor Inn Drive motel charged Amanda Geiger, 31, with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Geiger, of 196 Goldie Road, Liberty, had an assortment of suspected drug paraphernalia, including suspected crack pipes and syringes, in her room, a report said.
Theft: A Lynn Drive man reported a bottle of medications stolen from his girlfriend.
Attempted theft: Someone tried to steal an $11,000 all-terrain vehicle at a Shady Lane home.
Drugs: Officers received information about someone passing phony prescriptions at Rite Aid Pharmacy, 2704 Belmont Ave., where they charged 35-year-old Tamika L. Spivey, 542 Redondo Drive, Youngstown, with two felony counts of illegal processing of drug documents and one felony count of deception to obtain a dangerous drug. A physician confirmed that a prescription Spivey had was bogus, and police found two additional prescription documents she had manufactured, they said.
Sept. 17
Forgery: A manager of a Boardman business discovered someone had presented a counterfeit business check and cashed it at a Belmont Avenue bank.
Burglary: Took place at a vacant home in the 800 block of Pinecrest Drive, from which 60 feet of copper piping was stolen from the basement.
Theft: A UPS package was stolen at a residence in the 1100 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road.
Sept. 18
Arrest: A traffic stop on state Route 193 led to a charge of operating a vehicle impaired against 51-year-old Norman S. Gollan, 38 Thornton Ave., Youngstown.
GIRARD
Sept. 14
Menacing: A man removing personal property from a residence in the 200 block of Louis Circle reported having been threatened.
Theft: A mountain bike was taken from a garage in the 900 block of North Highland Avenue.
Misuse of a credit card: An East Howard Street man noticed 23 unauthorized charges to his credit/debit account that totaled $607.
Attempted fraud: A Park Avenue couple told police a man called claiming they owed on an outstanding debt and would be prosecuted if they failed to pay it. The call originated from a number in New York that has been used in previous scam attempts, authorities said.
Sept. 15
Burglary: Someone broke a window, entered a residence in the 200 block of East Wilson Avenue and took a laptop computer as well as numerous pieces of jewelry. The loss was calculated at $1,000.
Attempted burglary: Someone broke a window in an effort to enter an East Wilson Avenue residence, though the person was unsuccessful.
Theft: A UPS package containing a cellphone was stolen from a home in the 500 block of North Avenue.
Domestic violence: Police received information about a man beating up a woman near Girard Municipal Court on North Market Street before charging 26-year-old Jonathan Stafford with the crime. An officer witnessed Stafford, of 168 Auburn Drive, Boardman, shoving and hitting his wife, who had redness and a scratch, a report said.
Sept. 16
Theft: The owner’s manual and $8 were removed from a vehicle in the 100 block of Elruth Court.
Recovered property: A four-wheeler vehicle belonging to a Church Hill Road man was found on a golf course at the Mahoning Country Club Inc., 710 E. Liberty St.
Domestic violence: A Girard boy, 16 or 17, was charged with the crime after his brother alleged the boy had punched his face and tossed a garbage can at him. The teen faced additional charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct when, police said, he fought with an officer, then grabbed the officer’s shirt and baton.
Sept. 17
Harassment: A Gary Avenue man reported getting two calls that contained implied threats.
