4-year-old East Side boy in critical condition with gunshot wound

YOUNGSTOWN — A 4-year-old boy is in critical, but stable condition this afternoon in St. Elizabeth Health Center with a gunshot wound to the head after police said they believe the gun accidentally discharged while the boy was in bed on the city’s East Side.

The boy, Tristian Jackson, suffered the wound in an apartment in the 600 block of Kendis Circle at 7:35 a.m. today.

A woman in the apartment heard a gunshot, found Tristian crying with blood on him, and drove him to the hospital in a private car.

At the hospital, police observed the boy talking and crying, with a bloody and swollen right cheek.
