Center goes outdoors for Silly Science day

OH WOW!’s hands-on science-related fun for kids will spill out onto the street Sunday.

The second annual Silly Science Sunday will be from noon to 4 p.m., with interactive activities and demonstrations on West Federal Street, in front of the children’s science center.

Attendees will have the opportunity to create, think, develop and explore with a variety of exhibitors including: Home Depot of Boardman, Bricks 4 Kidz, Youngstown State University’s College of Science, Technology and Math, Austintown Fitch Robotics Team, Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation, The Green Team, Trumbull County 4-H, Mill Creek MetroParks and more.

It’s part of the museum’s Silly Science Weekend, which also includes an adult event, The Science of Brewing, on Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m.

The Science of Brewing will feature a presentation by Great Lakes Brewing Co., as well as a tasting of the GLBC family of five beers.

Tickets are $75 per person and include heavy hors d’oeuvres and the beer tasting. There also will be a cash bar and live and silent auctions. Attire is business casual. All proceeds will benefit OH WOW!

In conjunction with Silly Science Weekend, OH WOW! will debut the highly anticipated Solar Bug Dome, an original solar-energy exhibit. Guests of the Science of Brewing and Silly Science Sunday will have the first opportunity to test the new addition to the museum’s exhibit hall.

OH WOW! will be closed today through Saturday for maintenance and preparation for the weekend’s event.
