The Trumbull Career and Technical Center is having an open house for former RG Steel workers from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

The former employees will have the opportunity to learn how to use computers for job-search skills and to tour the facility and learn about various training programs offered by the center.

The TCTC Adult Training Center offers classes in the business, computer, medical and industrial fields, including machining and oil and gas entry-level training. Those interested should reserve their spot by calling 330-847-0503, ext. 1600, before Thursday.

Marking 20 years

The Shops at Boardman Park will celebrate its 20th anniversary Saturday. The celebration will be in tents set up behind Quaker Steak and Lube. Entertainment includes a car cruise in/bike night at 6 p.m., a free concert at 7 p.m. featuring Houseband of Youngstown, and fireworks at 9:45 p.m.

Apple stock hits $700

Apple’s stock reached $700 for the first time Tuesday, the day after it announced that orders for its iPhone 5 topped 2 million in the first 24 hours.

The stock traded as high as $701.44 in the morning, up a quarter of a percent from Monday’s close. It later fell slightly. It had come within 20 cents of $700 Monday. The rally in Apple’s stock price puts the company’s market value at $658 billion.

FedEx cuts outlook

NEW YORK

FedEx Corp. says the global economy is stalling, and it’s going to get worse next year.

The conditions are shrinking earnings at the world’s second-largest package-delivery company. Factories are making fewer items for FedEx to ship, and customers are opting for cheaper delivery options to save money.

FedEx on Tuesday cut its outlook for global growth and industrial production while slashing the forecast for company earnings.
