Man surrenders in New Year’s Eve party killing
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh police say a suspect who killed another man during a robbery at a party on New Year’s Eve has turned himself in.
Twenty-five-year-old Dana Johnson was arraigned Tuesday after turning himself in to face charges in the killing of 23-year-old Donald Russell.
Investigators say Johnson, of Carrick, took an AK-47 into a house with another armed man around 3 a.m. on Dec. 31. Witnesses say the men pulled out their weapons and riffled through at least one person’s pockets before Russell resisted their efforts to take his belongings.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Russell died of multiple gunshot wounds after witnesses say they saw Johnson aim at his chest, then heard gunfire.
Court records don’t list an attorney for Johnson. He’s being held without bail.
