Dr. and Mrs. Larry J. Gessner of Canfield are announcing the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Lauren Gessner of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Jake Walker of Birmingham, Ala. The prospective groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Walker of Wagarville, Ala.

St. John Greek Orthodox Church in Boardman will be the setting of the 4 p.m. June 15, 2013, ceremony. Invitations will be extended for an evening reception at The Embassy in Boardman.

The bride-to-be earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of South Alabama and is studying law at the University of Alabama.

The future groom earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of South Alabama and works as an engineer for Alabama Power in Birmingham.
