A 22-year-old Cortland woman pleaded innocent to two counts of felonious assault after police say she drove into the side of her ex-boyfriend’s car, causing an accident.

J’me R. Brady of North Park Avenue Extension was released after her arraignment hearing and posting $5,000 bond.

Police found Brady in a car on Southern Boulevard at 2:30 a.m. Sunday. They also discovered a car driven by a 22-year-old Englesson Drive Northwest man a short distance away that had hit a tree.

The driver of that car and his 21-year-old female passenger were out of the car, the male having a bloody nose and complaining of a head injury, and the woman saying her back hurt. Both refused medical treatment.

The man said he had left a home on Roosevelt Street Northwest, and Brady followed him. On Parkman Road, Brady bumped the back of his car several times, the man said.

On Southern Boulevard, Brady drove into the driver’s side of the car, causing the man to swerve into the tree, the man said. The crash caused heavy damage to his sport utility vehicle and caused the air bags to inflate.

Brady told police she was following the man to get him to talk to her and she bumped his car by accident.
