FESTIVALS/FAIRS

Shepherd of the Valley, 301 W. Western Reserve Road, Poland, is sponsoring a family fall festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Outdoor activities will include horse-carriage rides, a bounce-around, face painting, carnival games, music, concessions, a bake sale, auctions, prizes and more. FUNDRAISERS

Good Hope Church, 98 Homestead Drive, Boardman, will have a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There will be kitchen items, toys, tools, clothes and books for sale. Proceeds will go to the women of the church and the church choir. Cancer Relay for Life Team will serve food all day to raise money for 2013 Cancer Relay for Life in Boardman. The team will also be selling 2013 Entertainment books and will take orders for pies to deliver before Thanksgiving. Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, will host its 60th pork-kraut dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 23. The cost is $8.75 for adults and $5 for children and includes dessert and coffee, tea or pop. All are welcome. Takeouts will be available.

PICNICS

Horizon Science Academy Youngstown, 3403 Southern Blvd., will host a family barbecue from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for students enrolled in HSAY, their families and staff members. SALES

First United Methodist Church, 237 W. Silver St., Sharon, Pa., will have a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12 and from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 13. There will also be a bake sale all day Friday. Saturday is $1-a-bag day. There will be good used clothing, jewelry, toys, small appliances, linens, antiques, collectibles and miscellaneous.

Kinsman United Methodist Church, 8431 State St., will serve its annual turkey dinner and have a bazaar Sept. 29. Dinner will be served from 3 to 7 p.m. and will cost $8 for adults and $4 for children age 4 to 12. Children 3 and under are free. Bazaar booths will open at 2 p.m. The church is handicapped accessible.

Menagerie Thrift and Gift Shoppe, 6037 E. Market St., Warren, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The store sells clothing, furniture, books, antiques, collectibles and Christmas items year-round. All purchases benefit Animal Welfare of Trumbull County, a nonprofit organization. St. John Greek Orthodox Church Ladies Society is sponsoring a trash and treasure sale at the church, 4955 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday. There will be a $2-per-bag sale after 2 p.m. Friday. For information call the church at 330-788-5257.

TRIPS

Youngstown Jewish Community Center is planning a bus trip to Playhouse Square in Cleveland to see the musical “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.” Price includes orchestra seat and transportation.
