Shepherd of the Valley is having a party and prayer service to celebrate 40 years in business today from 5 to 9 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road in Cornersburg.
During the year, Shepherd of the Valley has had events throughout its various communities. They started in May at the company’s first site in Niles and ended last month at its newest site in Howland.
Funds for center
BOARDMAN
The Home Savings Charitable Foundation presented a check for $2,000 to the Boardman Performing Arts Center. The funds will be used to help finance the purchase and installation of a new sound system, which will improve the quality of their productions.

10-year anniversary
COLUMBIANA
Whispering Pines Village, an assisted and independent- living retirement community in Columbiana, is celebrating its 10th anniversary today from 1 to 4 p.m. with an open house.
Tours of the facility will be provided, and the first 100 people who sign the visitors log will receive a free etched wine glass. Whispering Pines Village is at 937 E. Park Avenue in Columbiana.
