Airman of the Year

Staff Sgt. James Inghram of Boardman recently was named Airman of the Year for the entire Air Force and was promoted to his current rank.

Before that, Inghram, son of James Inghram of Austintown and Mary Kay Inghram of Boardman, was named Diet Technician Airman of the Year for the Air Force of Europe.

Inghram, stationed at Lakenheath Air Force base, England, is a 2006 graduate of Boardman High School.

In Afghanistan

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class William M. Ferenczy and Constructionman Anna L. Parcher, both assigned with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 11, Det Musa Qal’ah, Afghanistan, recently helped complete construction of a 3,100-square-foot medical facility at a combat outpost in the Musa Qal’ah region.

The facility, which houses a trauma ward, two operating rooms, a laboratory and a post-anesthesia recovery room, will provide medical-evacuation support and trauma care for operating forces at numerous outposts and forward operating bases in Musa Qal’ah.

Ferenczy, son of Linda L. and William J. Ferenczy of North Jackson, is a 2005 graduate of Northshore High School of Slidell, La.

Parcher, daughter of Deborah A. Foltz of Jamestown, Pa., and Mark E. Parcher, of North Lawrence, Ohio, is a 2010 graduate of Jamestown Area High School.

On maneuvers

Navy Seaman Apprentice Jonathan J. Leydic and Petty Officer 1st Class Richard K. Possert Jr., along with fellow sailors aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG 99) and guided-missile cruiser USS Hue City (CG 66), conducted maneuvers and inter-operability drills in an exercise with an Italian frigate and submarine.

Leydic, son of Lori E. and David M. McLaren of Sharpsville, Pa., is a 2010 graduate of Sharpsville Area High School.

Possert, son of Debra L. Martin of The Villages, Fla., and Richard K. Possert Sr., of Hubbard, is a 1994 graduate of Hubbard High School.

ADVANCED TRAINING

Electrician course

Pfc. Brandon L. Marion, son of Cheryl L. Enterline of Youngstown and Bryan L. Mason of Noblesville, Ind., completed the Basic Electrician’s Course at Marine Corps Engineer School, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Marion, a 2011 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, joined the Marine Corps in November 2011.

ACADEMY NEWS

Air Force Academy

Air Force 2nd Lt. Paul S. Ochs has graduated from the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., where he was commissioned an officer and from which he received a bachelor of science degree.

Ochs, son of Thomas and Barbara Ochs of Jamestown, Pa., is a 2008 graduate of Jamestown Area High School.
