Idora presentation set at Boardman Park

Boardman Historical Society is hosting a free Idora Park presentation at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Georgianna Parker Center in Boardman Park.

Richard S. Scarsella, local historian and author of “Memories and Melancholy: Reflections on Youngstown and Mahoning Valley” will speak on the origins, heyday and decline of Idora, which opened in 1899 and closed after a devastating fire in 1984.

Failed efforts to save the ballroom, merry-go-round and other attractions will be discussed.
