W. Pa. man identified as burned body victim in vehicle
DARLINGTON, Pa. (AP) — Police believe a man whose burned body was found in his burned car in the driveway of his western Pennsylvania home was the victim of an accidental fire.
The Beaver County coroner says the man is 41-year-old Scott Beatty.
South Beaver Township police Chief Daniel McLean says no evidence at the scene suggests foul play. Rather, police believe Beatty fell asleep after driving home and perished when his car, somehow, accidentally caught fire.
Beatty’s body was found about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, but he was last seen alive Saturday evening. His home is on a less-traveled road in a rural area, about 40 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
The coroner has yet to rule on the cause and manner of Beatty’s death because toxicology and other tests are incomplete.
