Poland Youth Soccer names weekly MVPs
Nadia Zarbaugh scored a goal and was named Most Valuable Player in leading Orange Crush to a victory in Poland Youth Soccer Week 2 action. Savannah Procick added a goal for the Crush.
Team MVP Katie Jacobson scored a goal and teammate Katie Jacobson connected for two goals to lead the Shooting Stars.
The Silver Bullets were led last week by a goal from team MVP Cailor Sundstrom.
Chris Denney and George Gabriel both scored goals to pace the Blue Sharks. Michael Ballone and Jacob Tsagares were named team MVPs for the week.
Elias Diamendis, Aiden Hryb and Aidan Markey all scored goals for the Gold Fires last week. DJ Lind came was the team’s MVP for the week.
Lexi Bunofsky scored a goal and was the MVP for the Blue Thundercatz. Rachel Mowad added a score.
Sarah Butch, Cara Maze, Emma Moffo and Bella Volpini all scored goals to lead the Thunder Ducks. Camryn Cherry was Most Valuable Player of the week.
Emily Gumball led the Gray Hounds with two goals and was named MVP for her effort.
Kevin Kushner scored twice to lead the White Phantoms. Andrew Armile and Ben Dearing each added a goal. Kevin Joseph Sahrid was the team’s MVP for the week.
Anthony DePasquale, Jack Dodge, Noah Lee and Dakota Rudzik all scored for the Yellow Jackets. Players of the week were Dakota and Eric Grantonic. Recognized for playing strong defense were team MVPs Mark Pompeo and Michael Puhalla.
Poland boys soccer defeated
The Poland varsity boys soccer team was defeated by their rivals, the Canfield Cardinals, with a score of 4-1. Poland’s goal was made by Matthew Slaven. Poland took eight shots on goal and goalie, Troy Bole, had eight saves. The junior varsity match was also won by Canfield 1-0.
MetroParks to host girls volleyball clinic
Mill Creek MetroParks will be hosting a girls volleyball clinic for ages 11-14 today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., instructed by Walsh University’s all-conference former volleyball player, Natalie Borland.
There will be one-on-one instruction on perfect serving, passing, hitting, blocking skills, and more. Bring water and a packed lunch. The fee is $15 for Mahoning County residents and $18 for non-residents.
The clinic will be located at the new sand volleyball courts at Wick Recreation Area, 1861 McCollum Road, Youngstown. Call 330-740-7106 to register.
Youngstown Orthopaedic Saturday sports clinic
Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates’ Saturday sports clinics, geared specifically to fall sports student-athletes in need of immediate attention to sports injuries, has started. The clinics run from 9-11 a.m. every Saturday throughout the high school sports season.
These clinics are open to players involved in football, volleyball, soccer, golf and other high school and college sports. They are held at the practice’s Building A at the northwest corner of Tippecanoe Road and Boardman-Canfield Road in Canfield.
