Health, safety fair Saturday at Akron Children's

Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley is offering a free health and safety fair for children and families from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the hospital’s Beeghly Campus, 6505 Market St.

Events and activities include the Boardman Fire Department truck and smokehouse; poison, sleep, bike, car and fire safety information; Mahoning and Trumbull counties Safe Communities Coalition display; teddy bear clinic; Akron Children’s Air Bear and Mobile Intensive vehicles; Walmart vision screenings; health screenings; and a raffle for a bike, bike helmets and other items.

Proceeds from the raffle will support the Miracles & Promises Radiothon, which will be broadcast on Mix 98.9 and 570 WKBN Sept. 19-21 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Radiothon raises funds for pediatric programs and services.
