The Canfield girls golf team will have a tough time duplicating last season’s accomplishments: a 10-2 record, a co-AAC championship and a Division 1 sectional title.

But despite losing five players to graduation, the Cards are determined to try.

Gone are Kayla Cerimele (playing for YSU), Kelly Fleming (YSU), Annie McGlone (St. Mary’s College), Sophie Pilolli (OSU), and Jessica Tseng (Vanderbuilt).

The returning letterwinners are led by Christina Cooper, Olivia DeMartino and Michele Whiteleathe.

According to head coach Diane McCall, so far, the team is looking promising and good things are to come this season.

“I am excited for this season,” she said. “Thus far, the team has seen its successes. New personal and team records have been set. The girls are terrific about practicing golf on their own. They realize what it takes to be accomplished or skilled golfers and are dedicating themselves to such practice for further successes. They are a wonderful group of girls and I am proud to be their high school golf coach.”
