Five labor groups back DeGenaro for re-election

YOUNGSTOWN — Five labor unions and organizations announced their support today for the re-election of Mary DeGenaro, a Republican, for a seat on the 7th District Court of Appeals.

That includes the United Auto Workers Community Action Plan, the Mahoning-Trumbull AFL-CIO, Ohio American Federation of State, County, Municipal Employees Council 8, the Western Reserve Building and Construction Trades Council, and Teamsters Local 377.

“We want fairness, we want honesty, we want someone to look at every side of the issue and that’s what she does,” said Bill Padisak, president of the Mahoning-Trumbull AFL-CIO.

Judge DeGenaro is being challenged by Mark Hanni, a Democrat. But in Ohio, judges run in partisan-party primaries and then run without party affiliation in the general election.
