EAST LIVERPOOL

Connect Ohio and East Liverpool Area YMCA have partnered to offer the Every Citizen Online free basic computer- and Internet-training program.

“We are extremely excited to get the digital-literacy program under way and are hopeful that it will be well-received by community members,” said Abby Shemasek, the branch director for the Calcutta YMCA.

As an ECO partner organization, the East Liverpool Area YMCA received 12 new computers. Shemasek said the new computers not only will be used for ECO training classes but eventually will equip a computer lab for members to use.

The computer and Internet basic training is being presented through YMCA’s Literacy Program, and any Ohio adult is eligible to complete the training.

Area adults participating in the ECO training are eligible to receive home broadband service specials (as low as $10 per month) and discounts toward computer purchases from partner companies supporting the broadband-training initiative.

Fall classes are forming now and take place at the these locations: Calcutta YMCA Program Center, 15655 state Route 170; to register, call 330-385-6400, ext. 201; and East Liverpool YMCA, 500 E. Fourth St.; to register, call 330-385-0663.
