POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Aug. 31

Domestic violence: Police charged 43-year-old Patricia A. Goodin, 6750 Shawbutte St., Poland, with the crime after a man reported having been a victim. The family member was not injured, however.

Identity theft: A Red Maple Lane woman discovered online an unauthorized $450 charge to her account.

Sept. 1

Trespassing: A person trespassed on a piece of property belonging to Greenstar Recycling, 5505 Center Road.

Sept. 2

Trespassing: An Edgewater Drive woman filed a report.

Sept. 3

Harassment: A Dobbins Road man reported an employee had harassed him.

Sept. 5

Arrest: Patricia A. Goodin, 43, of 6750 Shawbutte St., Poland, was taken into custody at Struthers Municipal Court on warrants charging her with felonious assault and criminal damaging. Her bail was $75,000.

Sept. 7

Theft: A Greystone Drive woman reported the theft of 16 Cleveland Browns tickets. The loss came to $1,000.

BOARDMAN

Sept. 6

Drug paraphernalia: A traffic stop in the 300 block of Afton Avenue led to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia against 21-year-old Britney M. McMurray, 6721 Tippecanoe Road, Canfield, when, police said, McMurray admitted having in her car a device commonly used to grind marijuana.

Arrest: Quintin E. Prieto, 27, of 1350 Liberty Road, Liberty Township, surrendered on misdemeanor charges of assault and cruelty to animals after a July situation in which a Shadyside Drive woman alleged Prieto had pushed and tried to choke her. Prieto also threw the accuser’s dog at her, injuring the animal, a report said.

Domestic violence: Police charged 37-year-old Nicole S. Jackson, 6009 Applecrest Court, Boardman, with the crime after her boyfriend alleged that while walking on nearby Edenridge Drive, an enraged Jackson got out of a vehicle and tossed at the accuser a cup of bleach, some of which got into his left eye. The victim went to the Boardman fire station on South Avenue, where he had his eye flushed with water.

Theft: A dog was removed from a backyard in the 20 block of Erskine Avenue.

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone tried to pry open a rear door to Instant Tax Service, 3960 Hillman St.

Theft: A woman reported the theft of her son’s $100 bicycle at a residence in the 300 block of Tudor Lane.

Identity theft: An Oak Avenue man noticed several unauthorized transactions to his checking account that totaled $711.48.

Threats: A 15-year-old township boy faced charges of making domestic-violence threats, theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after his mother alleged the teen had threatened to shoot her in the head during an argument related to missing money. The woman also showed police three suspected marijuana pipes, a device often used to grind marijuana, a digital scale and bags to package marijuana she said she had found in her son’s bedroom.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s door handle was damaged in the 1200 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Fraud: An Applewood Boulevard woman discovered her residence was shown online as for rent after she had listed the home for sale with a legitimate real-estate company.

Theft: A semiautomatic handgun was stolen from a home in the 400 block of Mathews Road.

Counterfeit: A fake $20 bill was passed at Lloyd Dermatology & Laser Center, 8060 Market St.

Theft: A license plate was removed from a truck belonging to Quality Truck Body & Equipment Inc., 4440 Simon Road.

Sept. 7

Theft: Seventy-five Xanex tablets were stolen from a Glenwood Avenue residence.

Theft by deception: Bradley J. Dubas, 36, of 7400 West Blvd., Boardman, was taken into custody on two felony counts of theft by deception after a manager for Tuffy Auto Service Center, 721 Boardman- Canfield Road, had explained to police that a driver with a company hired to remove discarded motor oil from Tuffy alleged that Dubas told the driver to write two checks totaling $954 to him instead of to the business for the service.

Misuse of a credit card: A Liberty Township man who lost his wallet in the 8400 block of Market Street reported being informed that someone had tried to make a fraudulent $900 charge at a local Walmart store.

Domestic violence: Louis Jones Jr., 22, of 817 Brentwood Ave., Youngstown, was arrested in the 400 block of Boardman-Poland Road and charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged Jones had punched her four or five times in the face and bit her breast during an argument regarding messages Jones said he found on her cellphone.

Theft: Ten Ohio Lottery tickets were taken from Circle K, 7103 Lockwood Blvd.

Breaking and entering: Someone stole 85 feet of copper piping valued at $1,000 from a vacant Erskine Avenue residence.

Theft: A man stole a $160 DVD player from Walgreens Pharmacy, 525 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Criminal damaging/menacing: A motorist who accidentally pulled in front of a white pickup truck on East Western Reserve Road told police the irate driver broke the accuser’s passenger-side mirror, then threatened to harm him.

Theft by deception: A man told authorities someone removed an estimated $420,000 over a four-year period from a trust in the name of his elderly grandmother, of Southwestern Run Drive. The exact amount was being determined, a police report showed.

Theft: A woman reported $21 worth of beauty products stolen from her car in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A woman discovered a $250 iPod device missing from her home in the 3900 block of Shelby Road.

Robbery: A man walking near Hillman Way and Overhill Road told authorities two gunmen age 16 or 17 with dark hoodies around their faces ordered him to the ground before stealing a cellphone, a set of keys and $12, then fleeing on foot. Around the time of the report, Youngstown police responded to a similar robbery in the 3800 block of Southern Boulevard.

Attempted theft: Officers received several complaints about vehicles that had been entered in and near the 100 block of Stoney Creek Drive.

Sept. 8

Theft: Two 17-year-old New Castle, Pa., girls were charged in the theft of $108.50 worth of clothing from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Assault: A South Schenley Avenue woman told police another woman struck the accuser’s face during a heated argument about lost money.

Criminal damaging: A storm door’s glass was shattered at a home in the 300 block of Melrose Avenue.

Vandalism: A Forestridge Drive man reported his wife’s vehicle’s windshield was smashed and the hood was dented. The estimate came to $800.

Harassment: A worker for a Market Street grocery store reported getting such a text message.

Burglary: To a residence in the 4100 block of Baymar Drive through a rear sliding-glass door. A $700 laptop computer was taken.

Theft: Three women and a man stole a $499 cellphone from T-Mobile in Southern Park Mall before leaving in a vehicle.

Arrest: Police near Brookfield Avenue pulled over 52-year-old Denise R. Molina, 2410 Bott St., Youngstown, and charged her with operating a vehicle impaired.

Counterfeit: Six phony $100 bills were presented at Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Sept. 9

Domestic violence: Anthony C. Warren, 46, was arrested at his home, 22 Shadyside Drive, Boardman, on a felony charge after neighbors told police they heard screams from the residence in which a woman reportedly had pleaded with Warren to stop choking her and when officers said they noticed injuries to the accuser’s chin and neck. Warren faced a felony count because of two prior domestic-violence convictions, a report said.

Aggravated menacing: A Liberty Township man at a Boardman-Poland Road business reported receiving the latest in a series of five calls in which someone threatened to kill him.

Theft: A Ridgefield Avenue woman accused a family member of taking her dog.

Theft: A $150 iPod was removed from a vehicle in the 7600 block of Spring Park Drive.

Theft: A woman at a U.S. Route 224 fitness center noticed a set of keys missing from her gym bag.

Burglary: Took place in the 100 block of Jennette Drive, where $300, a wristwatch and a bracelet were stolen. Police, however, found no signs of forced entry.

Menacing: A West Boulevard man in an argument on the phone with another man said her heard a woman in the background threaten to shoot the accuser and use a key to damage his car.

Theft: Four sets of keys were taken from a vehicle in the 7600 block of Spring Park Drive.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 8200 block of Hitchcock Road was found with a slashed passenger-side tire. Damage was estimated at $250.

Theft: A digital camera, a folding knife and $65 were stolen from a vehicle in the 7700 block of East Parkside Drive.

Sept. 10

Arrest: A traffic stop on Southern Boulevard resulted in 39-year-old Brian R. Bellard’s arrest. Bellard, of 327 S. Garland Ave., Youngstown, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: Police issued a summons to Karen A. Billock, 49, of 7432 Oregon Trail, Boardman, after saying she admitted having stolen two chairs from Goodwill Industries, 285 Boardman-Canfield Road.
