Man faces trial in Pa. for ninth DUI arrest
TYRONE, Pa. (AP) — A man has been jailed in central Pennsylvania after being ordered to stand trial on his ninth drunken-driving arrest, because prosecutors say the man has seven aliases — with seven different birth dates — and two Social Security numbers that he’s used after his arrests in several other states.
The public defender for 28-year-old Yevgeniy Yefraimov, of Tyrone, says he’ll have to review prosecutors’ claims, but didn’t immediately challenge information about his client’s record.
Yefraimov waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday on a charge of driving with a blood-alcohol content more than twice the state’s legal limit on Thursday.
Blair County prosecutors persuaded a district judge in Tyrone to jail Yefraimov because of his arrest record in at least 10 states and prolific use of aliases.
Yefraimov remained jailed today, unable to post $35,000 bond.
