Stage and screen actor Austin Pendleton (“My Cousin Vinny,” “Wall Street 2”), who is a Warren native, will speak at Packard Music Hall at 7 p.m. Thursday. After-school programs

YOUNGSTOWN

Associated Neighborhood Centers is accepting students for two after-school programs at McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road. The Teen World of Work program for youths 13 to 16 begins Monday. It is designed to increase employability through job and life skills training.

Teens will meet with various professionals and review courses of study needed to pursue careers in trades, law, child care, bookkeeping, teaching and health and beauty fields. Stipends are available upon program completion.

A “Kid’s College” program for children from kindergarten to 12 years old begins Oct. 1. The computerized math and reading enrichment program will feature lessons on nutrition and fitness, golf and arts and crafts. The program is licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Street signs stolen

BOARDMAN

Five street signs were stolen off Glenwood Avenue between Aylesboro Avenue and Ewing Road. The theft was reported to police about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police said if the thieves are apprehended, they could face felony vandalism charges.

Trustees reappointed

COLUMBUS

Gov. John Kasich has reappointed Carole Weimer and Harry Meshel to the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees after it was discovered that their appointments hadn’t been confirmed by the state Senate. Weimer’s term expires in 2017 and Meshel’s in 2016. Both were appointed by former Gov. Ted Strickland.

Last week, a University of Akron trustee resigned when it was discovered that her appointment hadn’t been confirmed, according to an Akron Beacon Journal article.

Kidney walk
