Volunteers needed

Volunteers are being sought by Community Legal Aid to help domestic-violence victims obtain civil protection court orders, which can prohibit their abusers from contacting them or coming near them. A training session for the volunteers will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 22. Trainers will be Eileen Larson, judicial advocate with Compass Family and Community Services; Brenda Gray-Morgan, Help Hotline victims’ advocate; and Jackie Tate, a CLA paralegal. CLA is a nonprofit law firm that assists low-income people in civil cases.
Workshop planned

An overview of health-care reform will be the topic of a free continuing professional-education workshop from 12:30 to 4:15 p.m. Friday at the conference and event center at Northeast Ohio Medical University, 4209 state Route 44. “Health Care Reform Explained: The Good, the Bad and the Unknown” is intended for lawyers, advocates and health-care professionals and is open to the public. Band night
VIENNA
Marching bands from Mathews, McDonald, Burton Berkshire and Girard high schools will participate in Mathews Band Night at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Booster Field. Cost is $3.50 for seniors, free for kids under 6, and $5 for others.
