SENIOR SIDELIGHTS


Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, open exercise at 9 a.m., monthly membership meeting, painting class ($5) and blood pressure checks at 9:30, bingo at 10 and intermediate computer class at noon; Tuesday, trip to Aurora Farms at 9, Vets helping Vets and bingo at 10 a.m., bridge and Drums Alive at 10:30, and Cards and Dogs at 11:30 a.m.; Wednesday, open exercise at 9 a.m., bingo at 10, pizza party ($3) at noon, and movie, “Hunger Games” at 1 p.m.; Thursday, yoga ($2) and open exercise at 9:30, bingo at 10, beginning crochet at 11:30, 3-buck lunch and grocery bingo at noon; and Friday, Wii practice at 9 a.m., bingo and discussion group at 10, intermediate yoga/tai-chi at 10:30, Wii bowling tournament at 11:30, and beginner computer class at noon. Warren S.C.O.P.E. Center, 220 W. Market St., is forming a cornhole, pool and Wii bowling league for this fall. All Trumbull County seniors, ages 60 and over, of all skill levels are welcome to join. Free lessons will be provided. Call the center at 330-399-8846 for information and to register. Also, A “Breakfast with Maxine” is planned for Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. The cartoon and greeting-card character will mingle with guests during breakfast and present her “Maxine’s Happy Hour” program afterward. The breakfast cost is $2 per person. Reservations must be called to the center by noon Monday. The center is now offering an ultra beginner line dancing class Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 3 p.m. beginning Sept. 17. Gloria Stone is the instructor, and the cost is $2 per class.
