PORTSMOUTH, Ohio

Prosecutors have recommended 10 years behind bars for the owner of a medical clinic in southern Ohio that authorities allege was a notorious drug house.

In a plea deal Friday, 69-year-old George Marshall Adkins pleaded guilty to five felony counts involving drug trafficking, corrupt activity and forgery. He is one of the first non-prescribers to be convicted on the state level.

Adkins had previously pleaded not guilty to charges of illegally dispensing thousands of prescription pain pills. He is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
