Rihanna, Chris Brown kiss at MTV show
Rihanna hugged, then briefly kissed ex-boyfriend Chris Brown just moments after her big win at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The sometimes turbulent relationship between the two turned sweet for a brief interlude Thursday night during a commercial break after the pop star won video of the year for her hit “We Found Love.”
MTV showed the grainy footage shot from a distance on its website Friday. As Rihanna walks off stage, she smiles and reaches out to embrace Brown. She gives him a quick kiss, then tussles his newly bleached blond hair as she exits.
The two split in 2009 after Brown attacked her, leaving her bruised and battered. She recently told Oprah Winfrey she still has feelings for Brown, though the two are not involved.
Sleeping Beauty tale re-created in museum
KIEV, Ukraine
Want to meet your Prince Charming? Fall asleep in Ukraine’s top museum and wait for the kiss.
A Ukrainian-Canadian artist presented an installation at Kiev’s top gallery Friday in which five attractive young women take turns sleeping under dim lights and soft music in front of visitors, having pledged to marry the prince — or princess — who wakes them with a kiss.
Taras Polataiko, a Ukrainian-born artist who has moved to Canada, says the goal of his interactive art project called “Sleeping Beauty” is to re-create the fairy tale in real life and witness the birth of love.
But the installation also has political undertones, symbolizing the patience of the Ukrainian people who are trapped in what he calls the oppressive government of President Viktor Yanukovych.
De Palma returns to fest with ‘Passion’
VENICE, Italy
Director Brian De Palma has returned to the Venice Film Festival after five years, and to the thriller genre after 20 years, with “Passion.”
The movie is a murder mystery turning a power struggle between Christine, a businesswoman played by Rachel McAdams, and Isabel, her protege played by Noomi Rapace. The film makes its world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival on Friday.
De Palma said “Passion” is “a woman’s film” and the actresses “played off each other quite well.”
Rapace said she appreciated depicting a relationship between women that is not “cute,” or “just friends.”
De Palma was in Venice in 2007 with ‘’Redacted” and 2006 with the film noir “The Black Dahlia.”
His last thriller was “Raising Cain” in 1992.
A grateful Chenoweth heals from injuries
NEW YORK
Kristin Chenoweth says she’s still on the mend after suffering injuries in July while filming the CBS legal drama “The Good Wife.”
Appearing on “Live! with Kelly & Michael” on Friday, the pixyish actress offered details of the accident, which happened during a New York location shoot.
An overhead lighting rig collapsed, she said, striking her in the face, slamming her to the ground and knocking her out.
When she woke up, co-star Josh Charles was holding her hand.
Said Chenoweth: “He’s my angel.”
Chenoweth, 44, said she continues to recover from a skull fracture and rib, neck and back injuries. But she called herself “blessed” the mishap wasn’t worse.
Although forced to withdraw from her recurring role on “The Good Wife,” she’ll appear on its Sept. 30 season premiere.
