Child hit by car
GREENVILLE, Pa.
A child walking at the intersection of Main and Union streets was injured when struck by a car at 8 p.m. Friday. The child was taken to a local hospital then flown to another hospital, according to Mercer County 911.
No additional information about the child or the hospital where the child was taken was available Friday evening.
Cruze celebration

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown will join United Auto Workers at 11 a.m. today at the UAW Local 1112 hall at 11471 Reuther Drive to celebrate the second anniversary of the launch of the Chevrolet Cruze, built at the Lordstown General Motors complex.
Storm damage

Firefighters were called several times Friday evening as a result of wind causing trees to damage power lines. A tree falling on a house on Ferndale Avenue at 6:33 p.m. also caused damage, the fire department said.
Buddy Walk today

The nonprofit organization Putting Downs First will have its 6th annual Buddy Walk today at Perkins Park. Activities start at noon, and the walk begins at 2 p.m. Batman will make a guest appearance, and there will be games and prizes. Children under 10 can register to walk and receive a T-shirt and lunch for $5. Anyone 10 and older can register to walk, have lunch and get a T-shirt for $10. Putting Downs First is affiliated with the National Down Syndrome Society to benefit people with Down syndrome and their families.
No indictment
WARREN
A Trumbull County grand jury has refused to indict Mario D. Patterson, 33, of Oak Circle Southwest, on a felonious assault charge in the shooting of his cousin. The grand jury said last week that it did not find probable cause that Patterson committed a crime, so the charged was dropped. Patterson’s cousin, Jamaal Manson, 34, of Stiles Street Northwest walked into ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital July 11, saying he’d been shot in the head during an argument. He was later released. Patterson could have gotten eight years in prison had he been convicted.
‘Young’s Town’

Park Vista of Youngstown Chorus will present “Young’s Town” at 2 p.m. today in the Park Vista Gathering Room, 1216 Fifth Ave.
“Young’s Town” is a historical journey through the city of Youngstown beginning with the founders of the steel city. It is written, directed and presented by the Park Vista Chorus, a performance group composed of Park Vista Independent Living Apartment residents. The event is free.
Water festival
WARREN
Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual Community Waters Festival at Perkins Park will be Tuesday and Wednesday. Four hundred fourth-graders from Warren City Schools’ four K-8 schools will attend the outdoor educational event.
The program features learning stations with interactive activities and presentations about water as a natural resource at the amphitheater and throughout the park.
Free Wean lecture

A fundraiser and free lecture by author Temra Costa will be Thursday at the Raymond John Wean Foundation, 147 W. Market St. Costa is author of “Farmer Jane: Women Changing the Way We Eat” and speaks about sustainable food and farming at numerous conferences, events and universities.
The program will benefit Warren Community Gardens, a program of Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership. The fundraiser starts at 6 p.m. and features locally grown and prepared foods; the lecture begins at 7 p.m.
