Concert to benefit Wounded Warriors

A concert event Saturday at Yankee Lake Ballroom will feature live music, a mini-buffet, a raffle and a basket auction. Tickets are $20 with proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warriors Battalion East and Gold Star Mothers. Performing will be Sam Trina and Gary Pirrung, Jet and Tyler Jenkins Band, the Sensations and other guests.

Doors open at 3 p.m., with the mini-buffet starting at 6 p.m. There will be a cash bar. Tickets will be available at the door.

Staloff exhibition at Butler museum

Youngstown

A 60-year retrospective exhibition of the work of New Jersey painter Fred Staloff will open Sunday at the Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave., and run through Nov. 25. A reception with Staloff, during which the artist will sign the exhibition catalog, will be from 1 to 3 p.m. that day.

Staloff’s approach derives from the visually oriented work of Paul Cezanne, but owes much to the European and American Expressionism.

Arms museum plans open house

The Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave., will host its annual Founders Day open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday in celebration of the 137th anniversary of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society.

The free event will feature tours of the museum, historic photographs, pioneer-era games and demonstrations of straight-key Morse Code.

Children may participate in indoor and outdoor activities with games like Graces, Quoits and Skittles as well as Civil War era laundry, dress-up clothes and crafts. A new exhibit featuring architectural elements is opening in the museum, and a walking tour of Wick Avenue will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., weather permitting.
