Girls tennis team led by new coach

The Boardman girls tennis team, led by first-year coach Joanne Gardner, returns five letter-winners this fall.

Returnees include seniors Nicole Pavlansky, Gina Rosati, Jenny Hirischi, junior Amber Felger and sophomore Kacie Santilli. New to the varsity squad are Rebecca Jeren, Meghann Morrow, Miranda Warchol and Frankie Cox.

“The best way I can describe the team is solid,” said Gardner.

The Federal League is stacked, led by favorites Massillon Jackson and Hoover.

“My girls like the competition,” said Gardner. “It only makes you a better player regardless of the outcome. The girls are working hard, so I’m looking forward to a good season.”

Gardner also said there is a great group of determined freshman players who are looking forward to maybe earning some varsity playing time.
