Eighth-grade Bulldogs fall to West Branch

The eighth-grade Poland Bulldogs football team lost 22-16 to West Branch on Aug. 30. Reid Gould and Joe Lawman scored behind lineman Daniel Klase, who showed outstanding blocking. Defensive tackle Ryan George and linebacker Nick Petrolla were both recognized by the coaching staff for strong play.

Poland JV defeats Northwest

The Poland junior varsity football team beat Northwest 21-14 Sept. 1 at Northwest. Art Duran scored on a 30-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Dom Petrony. Petrony also had a 50-yard rushing touchdown.

Marlon Ramirez added a 74-yard rushing touchdown and two-point conversion run. Kicker Pat Divito converted a point after touchdown and kept the Indians deep in their own territory with his kickoffs.

On defense, Marlin Ramirez had an interception. The coaching staff recognized lineman Joe Caudle and linebackers Rocky Jeswald and Geno Petrus for outstanding performances.

Poland freshman tops Indians

The Poland freshman football team beat Northwest 27-8 Sept. 1. Josh Bader had a 25-yard touchdown reception from Nick Buccieri and Austin Connley had a 64-yard touchdown run.

Dylan Garver added a 64-yard scoring run off a fake punt. Joe Shields kicked three PATs and a kickoff into the end zone. Austin Connley returned an interception 71 yards for a score. Defensive lineman Ethan Moncilovich had a quarterback sack and multiple tackles for a loss. Other defensive standouts were linebackers Matt Duran and Anthony Audi and linebacker Trey Ellis.

Seventh-grade team beat Warriors

The Poland seventh-grade football team defeated West Branch 38-8 on Aug. 30. Dante Romano had two rushing touchdowns and Alex Catsoules had one. Alex Catsoules and Julian Diaz both returned interceptions for touchdowns. Defensive end Jonah Spencer was recognized by coaches for outstanding play.
