Comfort Suites coming to Liberty

Township trustees announced a $10 million investment at the site of the former Ramada Inn located along Belmont Avenue.

Trustee Stan Nudell said a group of partners, including Dr. V.C. Perni, of Liberty and Radius Hospitality Management Group, LLC., based in Canton, has finalized a deal for a Comfort Suites hotel.

Nudell said the township will present drawings of the new facility after a trustees meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday in the township administration building. He said the principals for the development will be at the meeting, and the public is welcome to attend.

“They are doing a positive project for the community, despite the economic climate right now,” said Pat Ungaro, township administrator. He believes projects like this will create a positive economic ripple effect throughout the township.

“Hopefully, this can spearhead other projects like it,” he said.

Nudell said the hotel will have 87 suites and a banquet hall that will seat 500 people. He and Ungaro said no tax abatements were included in the deal. They said the hotel is scheduled to open in 2013.

Radius Hospitality also operates the Holiday Inn on South Avenue in Boardman.
