Austintown 100-pounders lose to Poland

The Austintown Little Falcons 100-pound team lost to Poland 8-6 last Sunday.

Poland scored its game-winning touchdown midway through the first quarter and added the two-point conversion. The Falcons cut the deficit to 8-6 on a long run by Terrance Panky late second quarter.

After halftime, the game was a defensive struggle, punctuated by some physical play and textbook tackling all the way to the final whistle. The Falcons dropped to 0-3 on the season.

ALF 120s fall to Little Bulldogs

The 120-pounders (1-2) were shut out 22-0 by Poland last Sunday in Austintown.

Coach Antonio Page refused to use his team’s low numbers as an excuse for his team’s performance, citing lackluster playing and mistakes as the cause of the loss. Page also hoped to use failure as a learning experience for his team.

Todd Simons played well on both sides of the ball in the Falcons’ defeat.

ALF 140-pounders beat Poland

The 140-pound squad improved to 3-0 on the season with a 36-6 victory over Poland last Sunday.

The Falcons used a high-powered offense and an effective defense to beat the Little Bulldogs, Dra Rushton led the scoring spree with two long touchdown runs, while Andrew Bretsik, Emanuel Dawkins, Nathaniel Fowler, Deondre’ McKeever, Maeson Green, Daniel Ifft and Forrest Sokolowski all turned in stellar efforts.

Not to be outdone, Liam Carver, a member of the 140-pound team, sang the “Star Spangled Banner” prior to the start of the 100-pound game.

The Falcons play at LaBrae tonight. The 100-pound game starts at 5 p.m. followed by the 120s and the 140s.

Colts 120-team beats LaBrae

The 120-pound Colts (3-0) beat Labrae 8-6 last Saturday to remain undefeated so far this fall.

Brian Ferguson provided the offense, scoring the Colts lone touchdown and two-point conversion. Other offensive standouts were Shakir Perkins, Machai Cheathum and Maleek Cheathum. Outstanding defensive players were Kyle Moore and Bryan Bellish with multiple tackles.

100-pound Colts defeat Vikings

The 100-pound Austintown Colts improved to 3-0 after beating the Labrae Little Vikings 16-14 last weekend.

Both Colts touchdowns were scored by Devin Winford, while CJ Schisler added both two-point conversions. Defensive standouts were Devon Winford and Schisler.

Austintown Colts 140-pounders victorious

The Austintown Colts 140-pounders earned a tough 6-0 win over LaBrae last Saturday.

The Colts’ winning touchdown was scored by Noah James. Offensive standouts were James, with more than 150 yards rushing, Dylan Correia (60 yards rushing) and Tyrell Oliver and Gunner, Lane both with 50 yards rushing.

Outstanding efforts were made by the entire defense, holding the Vikings to only 75 total yards. Brock Kimble, Anthony Carino and Gunner Lane all had quarterback sacks in the game.
