Texas man’s estate sues over work slaying
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A slain Texas man’s estate is suing two companies over the western Pennsylvania workplace shooting that claimed his life.
Trevor Compton’s estate says he was shot during an altercation with Danny Kirtley at which Compton was to confront Kirtley about workplace behavior.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports the suit filed in Allegheny County Court claims the companies should have done more to avoid the fatal encounter when Compton was ordered to have the meeting.
Compton was fatally shot at Rosenboom Welding and Fabrication, a gas well repair company. Attempts to reach Rosenboom were not successful Wednesday morning.
Authorities say Compton, of Mont Belvieu, Texas, was shot and killed Feb. 10 in Washington County. Kirtley is charged with homicide and is awaiting trial.
