YNDC hosts free vacant land reuse workshop Saturday

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. hosts a “Dealing with Urban Soils” workshop, as part of their Vacant Land Reuse Workshop series, from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The workshop, located on Mineral Springs Avenue, between Glenwood Avenue and Volney Road on the South Side, is free.

An expert on vacant land reuse will present low-cost ways to test soils for contamination, assess site conditions, and amend soil on demolition lots in order to safely grow food.

The seminar will focus on how to deal with lead contamination, strategies for compacted soils, and how to add organic matter to plants. For information, call 330-480-0423.
