Sentencing in Ohio crash that killed one, injured one
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A southwest Ohio woman who authorities say failed sobriety tests after a crash that killed a woman and seriously injured the victim’s father has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Court officials say 41-year-old Alicia S. Tyner of Trotwood also had her driver’s license suspended for life at Tuesday’s sentencing and must pay $93,000 restitution.
Tyner was convicted last month in a 2011 crash that killed 55-year-old Kathleen Saunders and injured Saunders’ father. Tyner was convicted of aggravated vehicular homicide counts, two counts each of aggravated vehicular assault, and vehicular assault and one tampering with evidence charge.
The Dayton Daily News reports authorities said Tyner left of center and collided head-on with the victims’ car.
Tyner attorney Mark Deters says she wasn’t under the influence and will appeal.
