Pa. woman chaarged with murder in July double fatal

TAYLOR, Pa. (AP) — A northeastern Pennsylvania woman faces murder charges for her allegedly driving drunk and high at the time of a high-speed crash that killed other women.

Court records say 45-year-old Sherry Hubert was also driving with a suspended license at the time of the July 21 crash that killed 48-year-old Kim Smith and 58-year-old Lydia Riley in Taylor, Lackawanna County.

The Times-Tribune of Scranton reports the crash killed Smith instantly and Riley succumbed to her injuries a few days later.

Court records say Hubert was driving 95 mph at the time of the crash. Police say her blood-alcohol level was 0.208, well over twice the legal limit for drivers of 0.08.

Hubert was arraigned Saturday and placed in jail on $50,000 bail.
