2 officers injured in pursuit rollover

AVALON, Pa. (AP) — Officials say two Pittsburgh-area police officers were hurt when their patrol car rolled over during a pursuit before a suspect was taken into custody.

Police say the pursuit involving two Avalon police officers started around 3 a.m. today. KDKA-TV reports one officer was dragged a short distance when a suspicious vehicle he was investigating drove away from him.

The officers gave chase but their vehicle rolled over about two miles away. The extent of the officers’ injuries was not immediately clear but their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The suspect was taken into custody but his name was not immediately released.

Avalon is about six miles north of Pittsburgh.
