BOARDMAN
Police are investigating a crash that sent two people to the hospital.
The accident occurred about 11:15 a.m. Monday after a black SUV traveling southbound on South Avenue was struck by a northbound Ford Focus driven by an elderly woman who turned left onto Larkridge Avenue, said police Lt. Steve Riwniak.
The man in the black SUV was partially ejected from the vehicle after it rolled over into a nearby yard, said Capt. Brian Barber of the township fire department. The man had to be cut out of his vehicle by fire department personnel before being transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center. The woman driving the other vehicle also was taken to St. Elizabeth’s, Riwniak said.
There was no word on their conditions or identities at press time.
A fire crew returning from another call heard the impact of the crash and was on the scene shortly after, Barber said.
As of late Monday, police said no one had been cited in the accident.
