Two people sent to hospital after Boardman crash

BOARDMAN — Police are investigating a crash that sent two people to the hospital.

The accident occurred around 11:15 a.m. today after a man traveling southbound on South Avenue in a black SUV was struck by and elderly woman driving a Ford Focus northbound when she turned left onto Larkridge Avenue, said police Lt. Steve Riwniak.

The man in the black SUV was partially ejected from the vehicle after it rolled over into a nearby yard, said Capt. Brian Barber of the township fire department. The man had to be cut out of his vehicle by fire department personnel before being transferred to St. Elizabeth Health Center. The woman driving the other vehicle was also taken to St. Elizabeth’s, Riwniak said.

There was no word on their condition or identities at press time.

A fire crew returning from another call heard the impact of the crash and was on the scene shortly after, Barber said.

As of late tonight, police said no one had been cited in the accident.
