Michigan man finishes canoe trip around Lake Erie

PETOSKEY, Mich.

A Petoskey man has completed a canoe trip circling Lake Erie.

The Petoskey News- Review says that 61-year-old Stephen Brede finished the circumnavigation Wednesday, three months after starting. The beginning and the end of the journey was Pointe Mouillee, northwest of Monroe in Monroe County’s Berlin Township. It took him to Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Ontario.

The trip he began June 23 follows his successful canoe trips around Lake Huron in 2009 and Lake Michigan in 2010.
