Beer, Burgers and Bocce will bind community for books

YOUNGSTOWN

The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County has scheduled its annual Beer, Burgers and Bocce for Books, Chapter 111, for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at Cassese’s MVR, 410 N. Walnut St.

Many events are planned, including bocce, cornhole, 50-50 raffle and auction in a bag, which includes baskets donated by supporters. To donate a basket call Debbie Liptak, development director of the library, at 330-740-6086. This also is an opportunity to meet the new library director, Heidi. M. Daniel.

Tickets for the event cost $15 per person and may be purchased by calling Liptak at the library or at the door. For information call Liptak.

The corporate donor is Achievers USA. The MVR was selected to host the event because it’s a neighbor of the main library. The restaurant was founded in the 1920s in the Smoky Hollow neighborhood.

Cassese’s MVR is run by fourth-generation Cassese family members, Carmine, Patty and Joe Cassese.
