The final home game of the 2012 season was a tough one for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
One night after blowing a five-run lead, the Scrappers saw two different leads disappear as the Auburn Doubledays rallied for an 11-3 victory on Saturday at Eastwood Field.
Auburn piled on six runs in the ninth inning.
Starting pitching wasn’t the problem. Robbie Aviles worked five innings and scattered five hits. He allowed one run and walked one while striking out five.
Reliever James Stokes lasted only for two outs as he surrendered three runs on one hit, a two-run homer by Wander Ramos that broke a 2-2 tie.
Joe Wendle had two hits and drove in a run. Hunter Jones added three hits and scored a run. Eric Gonzalez doubled.
Today, the Scrappers will play in Jamestown, N.Y.
