Thirty-four more people attended the Canfield Fair on Friday than the same day in 2011.
Timm Schreiber, fair board member, said 40,562 people came through the gates Friday, bringing the three-day total to 105,074, which is more than 5,650 greater than the three-day total last year.
Tickets still are available for concerts
CANFIELD
Blake Shelton with special guest The Lost Trailers will take the grandstand stage at 8 tonight.
Tickets still are available and cost between $40 and $75.
On Labor Day, Martina McBride and Scotty McCreey will perform at 8 p.m. Tickets still are available for that show and cost between $30 and $60.
George Roman, fair board member, said the forecast is calling for about one-half inch of rain each night and that the concerts would be canceled only for severe weather.
“I would tell people to definitely keep their fair plans for Sunday and Monday,” Roman said.
Worship services
CANFIELD
Several worship services will be available this morning at the Canfield Fair.
A Catholic worship service will begin at 8 a.m. on the concourse stage with singing provided by Richard Kocher.
Ecumenical worship service will follow at 9:30 a.m. on the same stage officiated by the Rev. Russ Libb of Berlin Center United Methodist Church. Music will be provided by the Canfield Fair Choir, directed by Tom and Kelly Scurich.
Finally, on the concourse stage, a praise and worship service presented by Old North Church of Canfield will begin at 11 a.m.
A service at the International Stage also begins at 11 a.m. and is officiated by Pastor John Dobritch of Word of God Fellowship Church in Canfield.
Free shuttle service
Canfield
The Canfield Fair is offering free shuttle services for the duration of the Labor Day weekend.
The shuttles will run from noon to midnight between Canfield High School and the fairgrounds.
Springfield Ruritan
The Springfield Township Ruritan French Fry Concession is celebrating more than 30 years at the Canfield Fair.
Ruritan is a community organization, and the proceeds from concession sales at the fair and at Springfield Local sports events are used for scholarships, contributions to the local food bank and other community needs. The Springfield Ruritan stand is located on Wetmore across from the Pony Palace.
Ruritan organizations throughout the Mahoning Valley sell concessions and raise funds on the fairgrounds each year.
