Scrappers take early lead but can’t hold off Doubledays

Erik Gonzalez went 4-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI to lead the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, who couldn’t hold a late lead en route to an 8-6 loss to the Auburn Doubledays in a New York-Penn League game Friday at Eastwood Field.
Joseph Wendle added two hits, including a two-run homer, and three RBIs for the Scrappers, who led 5-0 entering the sixth inning.
Harold Guerrero (0-1) gave up four runs in one inning to get the loss. Wander Ramos had two hits and two RBIs for Auburn.
