The 10th annual Youngstown Area Jewish Film Festival, sponsored by the Center for Judaic and Holocaust Studies at Youngstown State University, features six films screened over 18 days, from Thursday to Sept. 23.

The schedule:

7 p.m. Thursday, USA Cinema in Niles: “Kaddish for a Friend,” the story of the unlikely friendship of a World War II Jewish veteran and a Palestinian teenager.

7 p.m. Sunday, Temple El Emeth, 3970 Logan Way: “Brothers,” the story how two Jewish brothers, whose choices and values have driven them apart, meet again in Israel after many years of silence.

7 p.m. Sept. 12, USA Cinema in Niles: “Nicky’s Family,” the story of a unique and courageous figure, Sir Nicholas Winton, also known as “Britain’s Schindler.”

7 p.m. Sept. 13, DeBartolo Hall on the YSU campus: “Ash and Smoke: The Holocaust in Salonika,” directed by Saul Friedman, founder of the YSU Judaic and Holocaust Studies Program, the story of the Jews of Greece.

7 p.m. Sept. 20, USA Cinema in Niles: “Mabul [The Flood],” the story of a troubled boy and his dysfunctional family struggling to stay afloat amidst crisis.

7 p.m. Sept. 23, Temple El Emeth, “Follow Me: The Yoni Netanyahu Story,” about Operation Entebbe to save Israeli hostages held by Arab terrorists at the Entebbe airport in Uganda.

Tickets are available at the door and in advance at the Jewish Community Center on Gypsy Lane. Tickets can also be purchased online and printed at www.ysu.edu/judaic. Admission to the screening of “Ash and Smoke” is free.
