The school hosted a luncheon Tuesday. The school was ranked in continuous improvement last year after its first year in operation.

When the community school opened in 2010, personnel set the goal to become excellent in four years.

Stambaugh Charter Academy, another community school in the city, also earned an effective rating on the latest report card. Youngstown Community School, a third community school in Youngstown, was rated excellent.

South Side Academy was ranked in continuous improvement and the city’s other community schools were designated in either academic emergency or academic watch.
