Music and eating contests abound during Youngstown State University’s Homecoming Week, which concludes Saturday with the annual parade and the football game against the University of South Dakota. This year’s homecoming theme is “We Will Rock You.”

Today’s activities include a Build a Penguin event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kilcawley Center and a homecoming cookout from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Newman Center.

A caricature artist and airbrushed tattoos are planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kilcawley, where 95.9 KISS-FM will broadcast from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For those who like to eat or to watch others indulge, a Denny’s burger-eating contest is set for noon Wednesday at The Hub inside Kilcawley.

That’s followed by a Quaker Steak wing-eating contest at noon Thursday and an 11:30 a.m. AVI hot- dog-eating contest Friday, both at Kilcawley.

HOT 101 FM will broadcast live from 6 to 10 a.m. Thursday and a Rock the Red Penguin Pride Rally will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

The Homecoming Parade begins at noon Saturday at Wood Street. Participants will march to Stambaugh Stadium for the 2 p.m. game.
