Woman, 7 months pregnant, shot opening door

AMBRIDGE, Pa. (AP) — Police have been searching for the person who fatally shot a pregnant western Pennsylvania woman as she opened her apartment door.

Ambridge police say the shooting happened about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The Beaver County coroner has identified the woman as 19-year-old Conekia Finney.

An autopsy was scheduled later today, though investigators expect it will confirm she died of the gunshot wound to her chest. The woman was about seven months pregnant and her unborn child died as well.

Ambridge is about 20 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

Sgt. James Mann, the acting police chief in the community, says Finney was shot immediately upon answering the door. Police haven’t speculated as to a motive or said whether they have any suspects.
