Warren City Schools’ new superintendent, Michael Notar, will speak at the Regional Chamber’s fall Good Morning, Warren breakfast scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Friday at The Raymond John Wean Foundation at 147 W. Market St.

Notar will give an update on what’s going on in the Warren schools and what the remainder of the year holds. In addition, Patty Brozik, president of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, will discuss the impact and role of the foundation’s Swanston Fund to the Campbell Schools in Mahoning County. She also will talk about how the foundation’s work in Trumbull County, as well.

The Pendleton Business Pride Award will be presented to a Warren business that exemplifies superior ethical, moral and professional standards while supporting the economic and community development of the city of Warren.

The breakfast is open to the public. Cost for the event, which is sponsored by Century Link, is $20 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers.

The Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce will have its annual dinner next Sunday, scheduled to start at 5 p.m. with a reception.

Bill Strickland, chief executive and president of the Manchester Bidwell Corp. will be the keynote speaker. Strickland’s company was featured in the educational reform documentary “Waiting for Superman” for its work on career training programs and educational models.

The evening also will feature Larry Haynes, executive director of the Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio, who will be presented with the Chamber Person of the Year Award.

Produce safety

The Ohio State University Extension will sponsor a produce safety workshop on Nov. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m at its office on 490 South Broad St.

The program will teach farmers about produce safety, food-borne illness, water and soil safety and good handling practices.

BrightStar Care has opened its newest location at 6550 Seville Drive, Suite A, in Canfield.

The location is owned and operated by Cliff Phillips and will provide residents with adult and elder home care and child care, as well as supplemental health care staff to corporate clients such as hospitals and nursing homes.
